In the 1950s, the first device for multiple control of all system information in different buildings, called System 320, was made in the United States: it was the principle of building automation. Since then, technology and electronics have made great strides, integrating with each other in what is now known as

A good wi–fi connection, wireless devices, apps and remote controls become the magic wand to fulfill the dream of managing one’s home with minimal effort, adjusting, for example, the turning on or off of lights, while sitting comfortably on the sofa or even from outside if one is not at home.
What can home automation control?
With good home automation work it will be possible:
– remotely operate technologically advanced home appliances such as an oven, washing machine, refrigerator, or dishwasher;
– Adjust the lighting or video surveillance system;
– operate heating or air-conditioning systems, providing net energy savings on electricity consumption.
What do Italians dream about?
Instead, among the most coveted desires of Italians are:
– refrigerator with which to directly order groceries and which sends a signal when foods are expiring;
– the washing machine that independently identifies the best washing program based on the items placed in the drum and the most suitable time slot to save energy;
– the oven who also knows how to cook by giving tips on cooking and recipes and indicating when the dish is cooked to perfection.
No utopia, but an increasingly possible and close reality.
